{"id":1532,"date":"2023-06-26T13:22:17","date_gmt":"2023-06-26T13:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consideratepouchers.org\/?p=1532"},"modified":"2026-03-10T11:06:53","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T11:06:53","slug":"the-eu-should-rethink-its-anti-smoking-policies-adopting-the-swedish-model-instead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consideratepouchers.org\/es\/la-ue-deberia-repensar-sus-politicas-antitabaco-y-adoptar-el-modelo-sueco\/","title":{"rendered":"La UE deber\u00eda repensar sus pol\u00edticas antitabaco y adoptar el modelo sueco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hoy, 31 de mayo, que es&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/campaigns\/world-no-tobacco-day\">D\u00eda Mundial del Tabaco<\/a>, proclamada por la OMS para llamar la atenci\u00f3n sobre los efectos adversos del tabaquismo en la salud a nivel mundial, los consumidores y los miembros del Parlamento Europeo han instado a la UE a seguir el ejemplo sueco de una estrategia exitosa para dejar de fumar, mientras la UE lucha por desarrollar un enfoque sensato para combatir las tasas de tabaquismo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suecia est\u00e1 a punto de convertirse en el primer pa\u00eds libre de humo del mundo y nadie parece reconocer esta incre\u00edble historia de \u00e9xito.<\/strong>\u00a0Es hora de que los responsables pol\u00edticos de la UE y del mundo reconozcan el milagro sueco que est\u00e1 ocurriendo ante nuestros ojos.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/beat-smoking-like-the-swedes\/\">Datos comparativos<\/a>\u00a0Los estudios sobre Suecia y otros pa\u00edses desarrollados muestran que los suecos han logrado reducir las tasas de tabaquismo mucho m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente que cualquier otro pa\u00eds. El contraste con los pa\u00edses que implementaron pol\u00edticas m\u00e1s restrictivas e intolerantes sobre los productos de reducci\u00f3n de da\u00f1os del tabaco es evidente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Combatir el tabaquismo como los suecos<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Entre 2012 y 2022, la tasa de tabaquismo en adultos en Suecia se ha reducido m\u00e1s del doble de r\u00e1pido que en Espa\u00f1a, seis veces m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que en Alemania y casi doce veces m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que en Italia. \u00bfC\u00f3mo logr\u00f3 Suecia reducir las tasas de tabaquismo tan r\u00e1pidamente cuando otros pa\u00edses se estancaron? La respuesta es la reducci\u00f3n del da\u00f1o del tabaco.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para instar a la Comisi\u00f3n Europea a cambiar de una vez por todas su enfoque fallido, la Alianza Mundial de Vapeadores se uni\u00f3 a Considerate Pouchers (otra organizaci\u00f3n de consumidores) y dos miembros del Parlamento, Charlie Weimers y Johan Nissinen, para celebrar el milagro sueco antitabaco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En una conferencia de prensa organizada por la Alianza Mundial de Vapeadores, el eurodiputado Charlie Weimers destac\u00f3 el \u00e9xito de Suecia y afirm\u00f3: \u00abLas pol\u00edticas deben basarse en la evidencia. La OMS pronto clasificar\u00e1 a Suecia como el primer pa\u00eds libre de humo de Europa gracias a sus pol\u00edticas de reducci\u00f3n de da\u00f1os y al uso generalizado del snus\u00bb. Carissa During, del grupo Considerate Pouchers, tambi\u00e9n afirm\u00f3 que el snus ha ayudado a millones de personas a dejar de fumar y se ha consumido de forma segura durante m\u00e1s de 200 a\u00f1os en Suecia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La abstinencia total ser\u00eda el objetivo ideal de muchos, pero tambi\u00e9n muy poco realista. Vemos claramente que existe una demanda de consumo de nicotina. Por eso hay millones de fumadores en todo el mundo.&nbsp;<strong>Lo que hacen productos como el snus, el vapeo y las bolsitas de nicotina es separar los componentes m\u00e1s da\u00f1inos del tabaco del consumo de nicotina. Si bien no est\u00e1 completamente exento de riesgos, es una forma mucho menos da\u00f1ina de consumir nicotina que fumar. Por lo tanto, cada fumador que se cambia a estos productos representa una mejora en la salud p\u00fablica.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La disponibilidad y asequibilidad de estas alternativas menos da\u00f1inas es uno de los principales impulsores del r\u00e1pido descenso de la tasa de tabaquismo en Suecia. Suecia cerr\u00f3 2022 con una tasa de tabaquismo diario de tan solo el 5,6 %, la m\u00e1s baja de la UE, y se espera que alcance la tasa de prevalencia del tabaquismo inferior al 51% este a\u00f1o, 17 a\u00f1os antes del objetivo establecido por la UE. Para visibilizar este incre\u00edble logro, la Alianza Mundial de Vapeadores celebr\u00f3 una conferencia.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LandlMichael\/status\/1663899647675383809\">protesta<\/a>\u00a0frente al Parlamento Europeo, cortando un cigarrillo gigante en representaci\u00f3n del \u00e9xito sueco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Al mismo tiempo, la UE y muchos pa\u00edses est\u00e1n optando por la estrategia opuesta, fracasando as\u00ed estrepitosamente.<\/strong>Actualmente, la tasa de tabaquismo en la UE en su conjunto es del 25 %. Los pol\u00edticos de la UE deben actuar con cautela y adoptar de inmediato el enfoque sueco para abordar el tabaquismo. 700.000 personas mueren cada a\u00f1o en todo el continente. Sin embargo, la UE planea intensificar la lucha contra las alternativas. El aumento de impuestos y la prohibici\u00f3n de aromas siguen en la agenda, impulsada por la Comisi\u00f3n Europea, mientras que la legalizaci\u00f3n del snus no se vislumbra. Ir\u00f3nicamente, el \u00fanico pa\u00eds con una excepci\u00f3n a la prohibici\u00f3n del snus es el que muestra mayor \u00e9xito en la lucha contra el tabaquismo: Suecia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfEst\u00e1 cambiando la marea?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante el mismo evento, el eurodiputado Nissinen inst\u00f3 a la UE a adoptar un enfoque de reducci\u00f3n de da\u00f1os:&nbsp;<em>Suecia es el mejor ejemplo de c\u00f3mo esto se puede lograr, concretamente con un enfoque pragm\u00e1tico de reducci\u00f3n de da\u00f1os. Es el \u00fanico pa\u00eds de la UE donde el snus es legal y popular, con un 181% de la poblaci\u00f3n us\u00e1ndolo. Consumir snus en lugar de cigarrillos salv\u00f3 muchas vidas suecas. Es hora de que la Comisi\u00f3n Europea prevea esta realidad y empiece a actuar en consecuencia.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Desde la perspectiva del consumidor, es muy alentador ver a cada vez m\u00e1s pol\u00edticos alzar la voz a favor de la reducci\u00f3n de da\u00f1os y contrarrestar los ataques a las ayudas m\u00e1s eficaces para dejar de fumar.
