La ciudad donde las decisiones tomadas a puerta cerrada repercuten en todo el continente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta semana, la gira europea de Protect Pouches lleg\u00f3 al coraz\u00f3n de la formulaci\u00f3n de pol\u00edticas de la UE y trajimos con nosotros las voces de los europeos que simplemente quieren dejar de fumar sin ser castigados por ello.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De las bicicletas de caf\u00e9 a los corredores de poder<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante las \u00faltimas semanas, hemos servido caf\u00e9 y bollos de canela en Par\u00eds, Estocolmo, Praga, Varsovia y Berl\u00edn, recopilando historias de personas comunes que dejaron de fumar gracias a las bolsitas de nicotina. Ahora, en Bruselas, hemos llevado esas historias directamente al Parlamento Europeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entregamos hojas informativas y testimonios reales a los eurodiputados y sus asistentes. El mensaje era sencillo: <strong>No confundan las bolsas con los cigarrillos, no les impongan impuestos excesivos y no priven a los europeos de la herramienta m\u00e1s eficaz que existe para reducir los da\u00f1os.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lo que est\u00e1 en juego en Bruselas<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay dos pol\u00edticas clave sobre la mesa en este momento:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>El Plan de Salud Cardiovascular<\/strong>Actualmente corremos el riesgo de clasificar las bolsas de nicotina como &quot;factores de riesgo cardiovascular&quot;. Eso ser\u00eda un error cient\u00edfico y un desastre de salud p\u00fablica.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Directiva sobre impuestos especiales al tabaco (TED)<\/strong>:podr\u00eda imponer impuestos al nivel de los cigarrillos en las bolsas, lo que impondr\u00eda a las personas un precio que les impedir\u00eda dejar de fumar.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambas pol\u00edticas ignoran lo que Suecia ya ha demostrado:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>5.6% tabaquismo diario<\/strong> \u2014 el m\u00e1s bajo de Europa.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>44% menos muertes por tabaco<\/strong> que la media de la UE.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>La incidencia m\u00e1s baja de c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n en Europa<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tasas m\u00e1s bajas de enfermedades card\u00edacas y accidentes cerebrovasculares<\/strong> que los pa\u00edses vecinos.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Si el resto de Europa siguiera el modelo de Suecia, <strong>3,5 millones de vidas<\/strong> Podr\u00edan salvarse en la pr\u00f3xima d\u00e9cada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Nuestras reuniones en el Parlamento<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentro del Parlamento, nos reunimos con eurodiputados y asistentes parlamentarios de diferentes grupos pol\u00edticos. La reacci\u00f3n fue la misma: curiosidad, sorpresa por los datos y agradecimiento por la evidencia que les proporcionamos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cada conversaci\u00f3n gener\u00f3 impulso hacia una pregunta clara: <strong>No castigue a la gente por dejar de fumar.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bruselas: Derribando nuevos muros<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As\u00ed como Berl\u00edn nos record\u00f3 lo que significa derribar muros, Bruselas nos recuerda lo que significa construirlos. Aqu\u00ed, los reguladores debaten nuevas barreras, impuestos m\u00e1s altos, prohibiciones generalizadas y clasificaciones basadas en el miedo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero los muros no protegen la salud p\u00fablica. Atrapan a la gente al tabaco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Nuestro mensaje desde Bruselas<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Europa tiene una opci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Construir nuevos muros de regulaci\u00f3n que mantengan a los fumadores atrapados.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>O abrir puertas a alternativas m\u00e1s limpias, libres de humo y tabaco y salvar vidas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>En Bruselas, nos aseguramos de que los responsables pol\u00edticos escucharan las voces de la gente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Protege vidas.
