La semana pasada, se filtr\u00f3 un borrador de la Directiva actualizada sobre impuestos especiales al tabaco (TED) de la UE, como <a href=\"https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/en\/post\/exclusive-eu-countries-discuss-lower-rates-for-smokes-vapes-and-iqos-pouches-rates-remain-sky-high\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportado<\/a> Por Clearing The Air. \u00bfEl titular? Han &quot;reducido&quot; los impuestos propuestos para las bolsitas de nicotina y el vapeo. Quieren que pienses que te han escuchado. Quieren que pienses que son razonables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No lo son.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Han ahorrado unos cuantos centavos, pero el objetivo sigue siendo exactamente el mismo: tratar las bolsas de nicotina que salvan vidas casi exactamente igual que los cigarrillos mortales que se supone deben reemplazar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La guerra contra la \u201csustituci\u00f3n\u201d<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero aqu\u00ed est\u00e1 el verdadero problema. Si analizas la letra peque\u00f1a del borrador del Consejo, encontrar\u00e1s una frase que te har\u00e1 hervir la sangre. Admiten abiertamente que este plan fiscal pretende... <strong>\u201cdesalentar la sustituci\u00f3n entre productos inducida por impuestos\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u00e9elo otra vez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los bur\u00f3cratas dicen: <em>\u201cNo queremos que te salga m\u00e1s barato dejarlo\u201d.<\/em> Est\u00e1n tratando expl\u00edcitamente de evitar que usted cambie de un cigarrillo combustible, que sabemos que mata, a una bolsita de nicotina, que no lo hace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 har\u00edan eso? Si eres fumador y buscas una salida, \u00bfno es la &quot;sustituci\u00f3n&quot; precisamente lo que est\u00e1s pidiendo? No seg\u00fan el Consejo. Para ellos, tu deseo de vivir una vida m\u00e1s larga y sin fumar es solo una &quot;distorsi\u00f3n del mercado&quot; que debe eliminarse mediante impuestos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>T\u00fa eres su cajero autom\u00e1tico<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>No se trata de salud. Nunca lo fue. Se trata de ingresos. El Ayuntamiento trata a los fumadores y usuarios de cigarrillos como si fueran cajeros autom\u00e1ticos. Se han dado cuenta de que si todos optaran por alternativas m\u00e1s seguras, sus enormes ingresos fiscales provenientes del tabaco tradicional desaparecer\u00edan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As\u00ed que su soluci\u00f3n es simple: encarecer las alternativas tanto que la persona promedio, el tipo que trabaja doble turno y solo quiere dejar el vicio, simplemente no pueda darse el lujo de dar el salto. Le est\u00e1n imponiendo un precio de muerte prematura para equilibrar sus cuentas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>El \u00abmilagro sueco\u00bb frente a la pesadilla del Consejo<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo hemos dicho antes y lo diremos hasta que nos escuchen: <strong>Suecia lo hizo.<\/strong> Tienen las tasas de tabaquismo m\u00e1s bajas del mundo desarrollado. No porque hayan impuesto impuestos a sus ciudadanos hasta llevarlos a la pobreza, sino porque les permitieron elegir sus cigarrillos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero a la UE no le gustan los milagros. Le gusta el control. Prefieren que sigas encendiendo un cigarrillo a que te dejen comprar una bolsita que no han vaciado con impuestos especiales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un impuesto ligeramente m\u00e1s bajo sobre un producto que salva vidas sigue siendo un impuesto sobre la vida. <em>Considerate Pouchers<\/em>No nos importa si el impuesto es apenas un poco menor este a\u00f1o, sigue siendo un ataque a su salud y a su coraz\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es hora de dejar de permitir que personas que no conocen tu nombre decidan cu\u00e1nto vale tu salud. Si a la UE de verdad le importara &quot;Safe Hearts&quot;, te sacar\u00edan las manos de los bolsillos y te dejar\u00edan dejar de fumar en tus propios t\u00e9rminos, como ha funcionado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No lo har\u00e1n.
