Voici donc quelque chose que vous n\u2019entendrez pas dans une brochure gouvernementale :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J'ai arr\u00eat\u00e9 de fumer gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une Su\u00e9doise rencontr\u00e9e lors d'une conf\u00e9rence. Pas \u00e0 cause d'une campagne de sant\u00e9. Pas \u00e0 cause d'une amende.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C'\u00e9tait le genre de nuit o\u00f9 le froid s'accroche \u00e0 votre manteau et o\u00f9 votre briquet fonctionne \u00e0 peine la premi\u00e8re fois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je faisais ce que je faisais toujours : me tenir \u00e0 quelques pas de la porte, une cigarette \u00e0 la main, faisant comme si cela m\u2019aidait \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et puis elle est apparue. Le genre de femme qui semble ne pas fumer parce qu'elle n'en a pas besoin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elle me regarda tirer une bouff\u00e9e, secoua l\u00e9g\u00e8rement la t\u00eate et fouilla dans sa poche. Elle sortit une petite bo\u00eete ronde de son manteau et me la tendit comme si elle me confiait un secret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab C'est ce qu'on appelle un sachet de nicotine. \u00bb <\/em>dit-elle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab C'est comme \u00e7a qu'on arr\u00eate de fumer en Su\u00e8de. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

J'ai ri. Puis j'ai essay\u00e9. Et voil\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il n'y a pas eu d'engagement dramatique. Pas de rituel du dernier paquet. Pas d'application, pas de coach de responsabilisation, pas de case \u00e0 cocher. J'ai juste\u2026 arr\u00eat\u00e9 de fumer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J'avais l'impression que quelqu'un avait discr\u00e8tement ouvert une porte dont j'ignorais l'existence. Pas d'odeur. Pas de feu. Pas de regards indiscrets. Juste une petite poche qui faisait exactement ce que fumer n'aurait jamais pu faire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En quelques jours, le briquet avait disparu. En quelques semaines, il ne me manquait plus. En un mois, j'\u00e9tais fichu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais l\u2019histoire ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quelques semaines plus tard, je rendais visite \u00e0 ma grand-m\u00e8re, une femme qui fumait tous les jours depuis la construction du mur de Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elle m'a regard\u00e9 et m'a dit : \u00ab Tu sens diff\u00e9rent. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je lui ai racont\u00e9 ce qui s'\u00e9tait pass\u00e9. J'ai ouvert la m\u00eame petite bo\u00eete \u2013 cette fois, \u00e0 la p\u00eache \u2013 et j'ai dit :\u00ab Essaie-en un. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elle a hauss\u00e9 un sourcil, comme si je lui avais tendu un produit de contrebande. Mais elle a essay\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C'\u00e9tait il y a deux ans. Elle n'a plus touch\u00e9 \u00e0 une cigarette depuis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors, quand j'entends que les gouvernements europ\u00e9ens tentent d'interdire ces produits \u2013 limiter les ar\u00f4mes, limiter la nicotine, tout fermer \u2013, je ne vois pas seulement des politiques. Je vois ma grand-m\u00e8re. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je vois la femme qui a fum\u00e9 pendant cinq d\u00e9cennies, trois crises \u00e9conomiques et au moins une guerre, et qui a finalement arr\u00eat\u00e9 parce que quelqu'un lui a permis d'essayer un sachet au go\u00fbt de p\u00eache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On peut dire que c'est anecdotique. Moi, je dis que c'est la r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Car voil\u00e0 la v\u00e9rit\u00e9\u00a0: les gens n'arr\u00eatent pas de fumer quand on les bl\u00e2me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les gens abandonnent quand on leur donne quelque chose qui fonctionne. Et c'est exactement ce que font ces sachets\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Propre. Discret. Pratique. Efficace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et tout a commenc\u00e9 avec une fille su\u00e9doise, une nuit froide et une pochette qui fonctionnait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors maintenant, quand j\u2019entends que les gouvernements veulent interdire cela, je le prends personnellement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Finlande ne propose que de la menthe et du menthol. L'Espagne veut neutraliser la nicotine \u00e0 un niveau si bas qu'elle devient un placebo. La France les a purement et simplement interdits. Et tout cela sous couvert de \u00ab sant\u00e9 publique \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si cela constitue une menace pour le syst\u00e8me, c\u2019est peut-\u00eatre le syst\u00e8me qui est le probl\u00e8me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je suis un ancien fumeur. Un petit-fils. Un homme qui a arr\u00eat\u00e9 de fumer \u2013 et qui a vu un proche arr\u00eater de fumer aussi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si vous voulez vraiment arr\u00eater de fumer, voici une id\u00e9e folle :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arr\u00eatez d\u2019interdire les choses qui aident les gens \u00e0 arr\u00eater de fumer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
