Bruxelles. La ville o\u00f9 les d\u00e9cisions prises \u00e0 huis clos ont des r\u00e9percussions sur tout un continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cette semaine, la tourn\u00e9e europ\u00e9enne Protect Pouches s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e au c\u0153ur de l\u2019\u00e9laboration des politiques de l\u2019UE, et nous avons apport\u00e9 avec nous les voix des Europ\u00e9ens qui veulent simplement arr\u00eater de fumer sans \u00eatre punis pour cela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Des caf\u00e9s-v\u00e9los aux couloirs du pouvoir<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Ces derni\u00e8res semaines, nous avons servi du caf\u00e9 et des brioches \u00e0 la cannelle \u00e0 Paris, Stockholm, Prague, Varsovie et Berlin, recueillant les t\u00e9moignages de personnes qui ont arr\u00eat\u00e9 de fumer gr\u00e2ce aux sachets de nicotine. Aujourd'hui, \u00e0 Bruxelles, nous avons relay\u00e9 ces t\u00e9moignages directement au Parlement europ\u00e9en.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nous avons distribu\u00e9 des fiches d'information et des t\u00e9moignages concrets aux d\u00e9put\u00e9s europ\u00e9ens et \u00e0 leurs assistants. Le message \u00e9tait simple\u00a0: Ne confondez pas les paquets avec les cigarettes, ne les taxez pas trop et ne privez pas les Europ\u00e9ens de l'outil de r\u00e9duction des risques le plus efficace qui soit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Les enjeux \u00e0 Bruxelles<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Deux politiques cl\u00e9s sont actuellement sur la table :<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
Le plan de sant\u00e9 cardiovasculaire<\/strong>: risquent actuellement de classer les sachets de nicotine comme \u00ab\u00a0facteurs de risque cardiovasculaire\u00a0\u00bb. Ce serait une erreur scientifique et un d\u00e9sastre de sant\u00e9 publique. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
La directive sur les accises sur le tabac (TED)<\/strong>: pourrait imposer des taxes sur les paquets de cigarettes au m\u00eame titre que celles sur les cigarettes, ce qui dissuaderait les gens d'arr\u00eater de fumer. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Ces deux politiques ignorent ce que la Su\u00e8de a d\u00e9j\u00e0 prouv\u00e9 :<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
5,6% de tabagisme quotidien<\/strong> \u2014 le plus bas d\u2019Europe. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
44% d\u00e9c\u00e8s li\u00e9s au tabac en moins<\/strong> que la moyenne de l\u2019UE. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
L'incidence du cancer du poumon la plus faible d'Europe<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
R\u00e9duction des taux de maladies cardiaques et d'accidents vasculaires c\u00e9r\u00e9braux<\/strong> que les pays voisins. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Si le reste de l\u2019Europe suivait le mod\u00e8le su\u00e9dois, 3,5 millions de vies<\/strong> pourrait \u00eatre sauv\u00e9 au cours de la prochaine d\u00e9cennie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nos r\u00e9unions au Parlement<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Au Parlement, nous avons rencontr\u00e9 des d\u00e9put\u00e9s europ\u00e9ens et des APA de tous les groupes politiques. Leurs r\u00e9actions ont \u00e9t\u00e9 constantes\u00a0: curiosit\u00e9, surprise face aux donn\u00e9es et reconnaissance des preuves que nous avons fournies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chaque conversation a donn\u00e9 lieu \u00e0 une demande claire : Ne punissez pas les gens qui arr\u00eatent de fumer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bruxelles : briser les nouveaux murs<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Tout comme Berlin nous a rappel\u00e9 ce que signifie abattre des murs, Bruxelles nous rappelle ce que signifie en construire. Ici, les r\u00e9gulateurs d\u00e9battent de nouvelles barri\u00e8res, de hausses d'imp\u00f4ts, d'interdictions g\u00e9n\u00e9rales et de classifications fond\u00e9es sur la peur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mais les murs ne prot\u00e8gent pas la sant\u00e9 publique. Ils enferment les gens dans le tabagisme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Notre message de Bruxelles<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
L\u2019Europe a le choix :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construisons de nouveaux murs de r\u00e9gulation qui retiennent les fumeurs. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
Ou ouvrez les portes \u00e0 des alternatives plus propres, sans fum\u00e9e et sans tabac et sauvez des vies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
