Staden d\u00e4r beslut som fattas bakom st\u00e4ngda d\u00f6rrar sprids \u00f6ver en hel kontinent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den h\u00e4r veckan rullade Protect Pouches European Tour in i hj\u00e4rtat av EU:s beslutsfattande, och vi tog med oss r\u00f6sterna fr\u00e5n europ\u00e9er som bara vill sluta r\u00f6ka utan att bli straffade f\u00f6r det.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fr\u00e5n kaffecyklar till maktens korridorer<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Under de senaste veckorna har vi serverat kaffe och kanelbullar i Paris, Stockholm, Prag, Warszawa och Berlin, och samlat ber\u00e4ttelser fr\u00e5n vanliga m\u00e4nniskor som slutat r\u00f6ka tack vare nikotinp\u00e5sar. Nu, i Bryssel, tog vi dessa ber\u00e4ttelser direkt till Europaparlamentet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vi levererade faktablad och verkliga ber\u00e4ttelser till ledam\u00f6terna och deras assistenter. Budskapet var enkelt: <strong>F\u00f6rv\u00e4xla inte p\u00e5sar med cigaretter, \u00f6verskatta dem inte och ber\u00f6va inte europ\u00e9erna det mest effektiva verktyget f\u00f6r skademinskning som finns tillg\u00e4ngligt.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Insatserna i Bryssel<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Tv\u00e5 viktiga policyer ligger p\u00e5 bordet just nu:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Planen f\u00f6r hj\u00e4rt-k\u00e4rlh\u00e4lsa<\/strong>riskerar f\u00f6r n\u00e4rvarande att klassificera nikotinp\u00e5sar som &quot;kardiovaskul\u00e4ra riskfaktorer&quot;. Det skulle vara ett vetenskapligt misstag och en folkh\u00e4lsokatastrof.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tobaksdirektivet (TED)<\/strong>skulle kunna inf\u00f6ra skatter p\u00e5 cigarettniv\u00e5 p\u00e5 portionsf\u00f6rpackningar, vilket skulle priss\u00e4tta folk fr\u00e5n att sluta r\u00f6ka.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>B\u00e5da politikerna ignorerar vad Sverige redan har bevisat:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>5,6% daglig r\u00f6kning<\/strong> \u2013 l\u00e4gst i Europa.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>44% f\u00e4rre d\u00f6dsfall orsakade av tobak<\/strong> \u00e4n EU-genomsnittet.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>L\u00e4gsta lungcancerincidens i Europa<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>L\u00e4gre hj\u00e4rtsjukdomar och strokefrekvenser<\/strong> \u00e4n grannl\u00e4nderna.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Om resten av Europa f\u00f6ljde Sveriges modell, <strong>3,5 miljoner liv<\/strong> skulle kunna r\u00e4ddas under det kommande decenniet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>V\u00e5ra m\u00f6ten i parlamentet<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Inne i parlamentet tr\u00e4ffade vi ledam\u00f6ter av Europaparlamentet och bitr\u00e4dande parlamentsledam\u00f6ter fr\u00e5n olika politiska grupper. Reaktionerna var genomg\u00e5ende: nyfikenhet, f\u00f6rv\u00e5ning \u00f6ver uppgifterna och uppskattning f\u00f6r de bevis vi tillhandah\u00f6ll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Varje samtal byggde upp momentum f\u00f6r en tydlig fr\u00e5ga: <strong>Straffa inte folk f\u00f6r att de slutar r\u00f6ka.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bryssel: Att riva ner nya murar<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Precis som Berlin p\u00e5minde oss om vad det inneb\u00e4r att riva ner murar, p\u00e5minner Bryssel oss om vad det inneb\u00e4r att bygga dem. H\u00e4r debatterar tillsynsmyndigheter nya hinder, h\u00f6gre skatter, generella f\u00f6rbud och r\u00e4dslobaserade klassificeringar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men v\u00e4ggar skyddar inte folkh\u00e4lsan. De f\u00e5ngar m\u00e4nniskor i r\u00f6kning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>V\u00e5rt budskap fr\u00e5n Bryssel<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Europa har ett val:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bygg nya regleringsmurar som h\u00e5ller r\u00f6kare inst\u00e4ngda.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eller \u00f6ppna d\u00f6rrar till renare, r\u00f6kfria och tobaksfria alternativ och r\u00e4dda liv.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I Bryssel s\u00e5g vi till att beslutsfattarna h\u00f6rde folkets r\u00f6ster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Skydda liv.
