Berlin, Germany, September 16, 2025 \u2014 This week, the international consumer movement Considerate Pouchers is bringing its Protect Pouches campaign to Germany. Under the banner \u201cPouches. Meine Wahl\u201d, consumers will gather in central Berlin to demand clear and fair regulation for nicotine pouches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, campaigners will collect handwritten postcards and video messages from consumers at Alexanderplatz, urging German lawmakers to legalize nicotine pouches with proper safeguards. On Tuesday, an eye-catching \u201cjet-pack\u201d action will take place across key Berlin landmarks – from ESG by the Wall to the Brandenburg Gate – to spotlight the urgency of protecting consumer choice and harm reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The postcards echo a simple message from consumers to Members of Parliament:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPlease give us clear rules. Allow adults to buy safe, tested products in Germany. Set standards and ensure quality \u2013 but don\u2019t take away this better alternative. I finally found something that works \u2013 for me, for my friends, and for my family. Please protect my choice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, nicotine pouches are in a legal grey zone in Germany. Their sale is prohibited, yet over 1.4 million people already rely on them. This drives uncontrolled imports, no quality control, and missed opportunities for public health, tax revenues, and consumer protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Michael Raetze, Director of Considerate Pouchers Germany, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNicotine pouches are not freely available in Germany, so like many others, I regularly order them online from Austria, Sweden, or England. This is problematic because you never really know what\u2019s in the products, how they are made, or whether the delivery is reliable. In addition, minors can get access far too easily. That\u2019s why we are advocating for legalization with clear rules \u2013 age restrictions, nicotine limits, and fair taxation \u2013 so that consumers have access to a safe and considerate alternative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Juan Rafael Taborc\u00eda, Global Spokesperson for Considerate Pouchers, added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGermany is one of the largest smoking markets in Europe. Every smoker who cannot switch to safer alternatives is a missed chance to save a life. Pouches are smoke-free, tobacco-free, and already helping millions across Europe. By refusing to regulate them, Germany is leaving its citizens unprotected and its economy behind.
