{"id":3674,"date":"2025-11-20T06:46:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T06:46:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consideratepouchers.org\/?p=3674"},"modified":"2025-11-20T07:01:27","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T07:01:27","slug":"alert-denmarks-quiet-push-against-nicotine-pouches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consideratepouchers.org\/uk\/alert-denmarks-quiet-push-against-nicotine-pouches\/","title":{"rendered":"Alert: Denmark\u2019s Quiet Push Against Nicotine Pouches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019re a pouching ex-smoker, you should know what\u2019s happening in your name (or rather against your name) in Geneva right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a report from<a href=\"https:\/\/pouchpatrol.com\/harm-reduction\/denmark-is-trying-to-ban-nicotine-pouches-in-sweden\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Pouch Patrol<\/a>, Denmark is pushing for new World Health Organization language that would let countries ban nicotine pouches (and other safer nicotine products) under the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s controversial because EU countries had already agreed a common line that <em>didn\u2019t<\/em> call for banning these products outright.<a href=\"https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/en\/post\/europe-agreed-not-to-ban-safer-nicotine-products-now-denmark-wants-to-ban-them-anyway\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Clearing the Air<\/a> dug into the same documents and says the Danish delegation is still trying to smuggle prohibitionist wording into the negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although EU countries had already agreed on a common position that did not call for a ban on nicotine pouches, Denmark \u2013 working closely with prohibition-oriented countries such as Brazil \u2013 is now pushing wording that would allow governments to prohibit or heavily restrict the manufacture, import, sale and use of products like pouches and vapes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sweden is a central character in this story.
