10,000 Signatures. One Undeniable Truth.

Sweden just became the first smoke-free country in the world. Last week it was confirmed. 3.7% of Swedes kouř daily. Down from 16% in 2003. The EU average sits at 24%. Greece is at 36%. France, the same country that just banned nicotine pouches and made possession punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to €375,000, is at 27%. Sweden cracked the code and the people running Europe are trying to ban the tools that got them there.

Susanne is a deacon’s assistant. Cajsa works in HR. Hugo is a student. Glenn is an entrepreneur. Carissa is studying psychology. Oskar plays cello. Different jobs. Different lives. One thing in common. They all made the same choice. They chose a pouch over a cigarette and stayed there. They signed a petition to protect that choice. So did nearly 10,000 others.

Ten thousand people. A deacon’s assistant and a cellist and everyone in between. All saying the same thing. This worked. Don’t touch it.

That’s the Swedish way. It didn’t come from a government campaign. Adults smoke because they need an alternative to cigarettes. Give them one that works. Stop treating nicotine and combustion as the same product. One kills you. The other doesn’t.

Lung cancer deaths among Swedish men sit at 15 per 100,000. The EU average is 43. Sweden has 39.6% lower tobacco-related mortality than the rest of Europe. Sweden allowed snus and nicotine pouches to exist as real alternatives to cigarettes. 1.3 to 1.5 million Swedes use them regularly. Smoking kept falling. Then it hit the floor.

The EU wants to revise the Tobacco Products Directive. The Commission wants to treat pouches and cigarettes as the same product. Sweden spent decades proving that is exactly the wrong approach.

If Sweden achieved the lowest smoking rate in Europe, and the health outcomes to prove it, why would anyone want to dismantle the system that saved those lives?
