On November 14, 2024, Sweden made history by becoming the first country to achieve official smoke-free status, with smoking rates dropping to just 5.3%. This groundbreaking achievement is a blueprint for public health success, offering a lifesaving example for countries worldwide.

To celebrate and amplify this milestone, Considerate Pouchers gathered at the Swedish Parliament, urging policymakers to “Share Sweden’s Gift with the World.” Through an open letter, we called on leaders to embrace harm reduction strategies both locally and globally.

Building on this momentum, we brought our message to the EU Parliament on December 11. Standing united on the steps of Brussels, we highlighted the transformative power of harm reduction in safeguarding public health while respecting personal choice.

Together, we strive to inspire policymakers across Europe to follow Sweden’s lead.
